Mike Avato gives us a look at the Notre Dame squad that rolls into West Philly on Saturday

After a tough showing against ‘Nova on Tuesday night, the Dragons have a short week to get ready for another top ten team with Notre Dame on Saturday. Weather reports for the game were initially looking pretty miserable, but it looks like things are going to clear up just in time for Saturday’s big face off.

Notre Dame comes into the game 1-1 after a rough OT loss to CAA member, Penn State. ND had very high expectations for the season, being ranked #9 in the nation with a ton of experience and talent all over the field. They quickly moved to #3 after a huge W over then 3rd ranked Duke. After the loss to PSU, they’ve dropped in the polls and come into West Philly ranked tenth in the nation.

As many of us more recent grads would agree, there is A LOT of animosity towards Notre Dame. The first few times we played them, we got smacked around a good bit, once on our home field, and once followed by a sour 12 hr+ bus ride back to the Illadel. Since then, we have gone 1-1 in the past 2 encounters.

Notre Dame boasts a lot of unproven talent. They have a few young bucks on offense and some solid returning “work horse” type contributors. On defense, they lost their best close guy to a season ending knee injury already, and have little experience at close and LSM. The strength of the defense is built around 2 things: the system that they run there (think Shanahan’s broncos 1000 yd RB’s, it just works), and John Kemp. Yes, Kemp is the brother of former standout, Joey, and is just as good. We’ll need to get in his head and have the offense score early and often.

Hoping to see the boys come out firing against the Irish and to see WPF in full force.

Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

I've been wearing my season

I've been wearing my season pass since yesterday and I just applied the 50 spf sunscreen. Great day to be a Dragon!
