Closing the Book on the Regular Season

Closing the Book on the Regular Season

The High Point game was this past Saturday and although the crowd was light in numbers, the faithful that came out watched the boys’ complete and outstanding 8-0 home season with a solid win over the new program.  The West Philly shut out was the first of its kind and it’s a testament to the entire group of guys who have put in the day in and day out effort since January.  We all understand there is huge drama and excitement to come, but let’s close the book on a phenomenal regular season.

The Seniors

Captains Chris Walsh, Aaron Prosser and Garrett McIntosh were joined by Robert Church, Kris Franklin and Justin Hummel (honoree mention to Brendan Glynn who would have completed his senior season this year – we missed you Brendan and we hope to see you next year) and were honored before their final home game at Vidas Field.  The group has gone 37-24 and was comprised of stars, gritty contributors and consummate teammates.  Congrats and a major thanks to all of you.

The Coaches

When the team play dips the finger can easily be pointed at the coaches, as such, when you have a season like this they deserve plenty of praise.  Coach Voelker had his team ready all season; maybe not to start the games, but ready to win every game no matter how the flow of the game started.  Coach Ford navigated a high octane offense that produced two 50 plus point scorers for the first time in over 20 years and bested the rest of the CAA by almost 2 full goals per game with 12.43average for the season.  Coach Collins kept together a D unit that replaced a four year starting goalie with not 1 but 2 different freshmen goalies all while working with a relatively young and inexperienced defense.  Congrats to the entire staff for an outstanding 11-3 regular season.

More to Come – Let’s stop there, we have more lacrosse to play ……..

On to the CAA’s

So the games are in the middle of nowhere and the game times are less than desirable.  Everyone who follows this site is passionate enough to find a way to follow or watch the semi’s tomorrow at 5:30 pm vs Towson.  The West Philly’s Finest main sponsor Landmark Americana will be showing the game on several TV’s so if you’re in the area try and make it over to watch the game.  It’s  late notice but we’re going to push to have a crowd.  If you can’t make it over, follow the game live with the free CAA live feed provided here:

Let’s keep the good vibes going.  This isn’t a revenge tour like last year, this is a respect tour, and the boys have to go and get it.
